Let down is an understatement...
Anyone who truly knows me knows that I am a supporter of Justin Baldoni. You can imagine how I felt when I heard the news about what he was being accused of...
It just could not be. Not him. I have listened to his podcast since it began, when it was on YouTube as face-to-face roundtables. I bought his book and immensely enjoyed it, knowing that I would not settle for anything less than a man who was aware of how he left this mark in this world -- big or small.
So I did not want to jump to any side immediately. I wanted to wait it out -- hear more information that was being released. All the while, I was still hopeful that he was not a pretender. And I ultimately feel today that he is not what he was accused of.
But this is not really about him. I had so much adoration for Liz Plank, as well. I will not lie, as the podcasts only began to feature Liz and Jamey Heath (while Justin was focused on promoting and working on It Ends With Us), I was getting a bit exhausted of Liz. And I truly hate to say that, but some of the ways she approached her path of feminism did not resonate with how I approach mine. So I unfollowed her before the whole scandal took place. But, I have to say, after she completely dropped out of the podcast so early, due to the scandal, I lost more favor with her. Let down is an understatement...
For someone who wrote a book "for the love of men," it seems she jumped ship so fast for a man -- Justin Baldoni. And maybe not even him, but Jamey Heath, since he was also mentioned in early information for certain, alleged conduct. I must also say, I cannot imagine him being that sort either. Not after having listened to both men for so many years.
I hope people really understand that not only women face sexual assault or horrendous deeds, but men do too. Just as much as a man is able to accuse a woman of false accusations, a woman can do the same. Please, do not be ignorant of that.
That is all I have to say.
