The Verdict

Child of innocence found herself in a very messed up place
She didn't do anything, finds herself swearing on it just to be clear
But they're still pointing their fingers at her

"She's lying," they argue with their dress suits on and their fancy dresses
They think she's guilty just because it's her word against her Mother's
What parent would lie? What parent would cause so much pain to their own child's beating heart?

The child hesitates to speak, to say "It's for the attention," about her own Mother
It hurts to think it has come down to this. How did the family perfect picture get so screwed up?
"Or maybe it's not just the attention," she weakly picks up. "She's enraged with a mental disease that has now, sadly, pulled me under with its affects"

She breathlessly stops before she can ramble on to admit she mistakes sticking around. She should've seen this coming from the start. Everyone else were smart and lucky to run away, but her heart had been too big and kind. She loved her Mother. She would never do anything to cause her heartbreak

Her thoughtful words really should've got them going then. But it seemed as if not one face was moved by truthful words

So this was it?
The child's life was done then
Here they go, pointing the fingers once again

"She's crazy. She knows she's guilty," they shout, their voices echoing inside her head
They continue echoing until the point that she finally cracks to herself in the dark spots of her mind

Maybe she is the crazy one. Maybe she was guilty all this time, but has no recollection

But no. She swore she didn't do anything. She couldn't have
Her own guilt would've consumed her from the inside out living with that sin

But what was that stirring in the pit of her stomach now that she dwelled on the memories over and over again?

Had she committed the unthinkable like they were forcing her to fall suspect to, or is she innocent like she painstakingly claimed from the start, but her words fell on deaf ears?
