Neverknowing

Neverknowing

I leave no markings, barely baby crumbs
You made that clear when you whispered I wasn’t the one
Don’t say that now you’re hurt
That’s something you wouldn’t know of

I can see memories floating
Far away and you left me there
Lost in the way you spoke to me
Everything laid for you to grab hold to
But never knowing what you had until it was gone

I dream beautiful scenes to come
A wanderer in the fields of fall
Never claimed perfect, journey might not be worth it
If so, I didn’t give you away

Till it was gone
So long
Don’t play that tone with me
I wanted to be there through all the pain
Even the pain you wouldn’t show me
I was there for as long as I could take
But my time in limbo, I was dying
